Northern Lights (1997)
In this episode of Overlooked, Jamie and Milo are joined by Allison McClain Merrill to discuss the 1997 film Northern Lights. The movie stars Diane Keaton, who finds out that her estranged brother Frank has died in a small town, and that she has a nephew she didn’t know about. This film first aired on the Disney Channel and since then Disney has tried to distance itself from the movie. In this review, we try to find out why.
Cool as Ice (1991)
In this episode of “Overlooked” the guys take on the 1991 cinematic gem, “Cool as Ice,” featuring the ‘90s sensation, Vanilla Ice. Brace yourself for a wild ride as Vanilla Ice essentially plays himself, cruising on a motorcycle in hot pursuit of a girl. Some stuff happens along the way, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s safe to say that the plot might not be the film’s main attraction, if anything is.
Easy Money (1983)
In this episode of Overlooked, the guys review the lesser known Rodney Dangerfield classic Easy Money. Rodney plays Monty Capuletti, a drunken slob who has one year to clean up his act to earn some easy money.
Joysticks (1983)
In this episode of Overlooked, the guys review the 1983 film ‘Joysticks’ directed by Greydon Clark. The film follows a group of young adults who have to fight against someone who is trying to close their video arcade.
Better Off Dead (1985)
In this episode of The 80s and 90s Overlooked, the guys review the 1985 film ‘Better Off Dead’ by Savage Steve Holland. This is the first of two films that Holland made with John Cusack. The film follows Lane Meyer (John Cusack), who after his girlfriend dumps him for a ski-jock, decides to kill himself. However, he consistently fails at this as well, until a challenge to a ski-off with the jock gives him some motivation to live.
Best Defense (1984)
In this episode of The 80s and 90s Overlooked, the guys review Best Defense. The 1984 comedy starring Dudley Moore, Kate Capshaw, and Eddie Murphy. Before he made Howard The Duck, director Willard Huyck made this movie. Dudley Moore plays a lazy weapons engineer who is working on a part for a new tank. Eddie Murphy plays a guy who was paid a lot of money to crack jokes in the tank.
Club Paradise (1986)
In this episode of The 80s and 90s Overlooked, the guys review the overlooked 1986 movie Club Paradise. The film follows Jack Moniker (Robin Williams), a retired firefighter who moves to the Caribbean and helps reggae signer (Jimmy Cliff) save his club from being torn down and turned into a high priced resort.
